The Praying Community

The liturgical year reaches its peak in the celebration of Holy Week and the events surrounding the passion, death and resurrection of Our Lord. These celebrations are observed with great solemnity, culminating in the glorious proclamation of Christ's resurrection on Easter Sunday. This same Easter faith is relived each Sunday at St. John's Cathedral where God's people sing praise to Him and become one body in Christ.

From this experience of worship emanates the total parish life of St. John's Cathedral. The church is the center from which educational, parochial and social programs extend to the broader community. We pray that our new Cathedral Center be, above all, a source of unity and a center of strength for our Cathedral parish family.

"Are you not aware that we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Through baptism into his death we were buried with him, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might live a new life. If we have been united with him through likeness to his death, so shall we be through a like ressurection."  (Romans 6: 3-5)
